Press briefing for Territorial Defense Forces and Ukrainian World Congress

TASK

To organize and conduct a press briefing on the donation of military equipment to the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Ukrainian World Congress.

IMPLEMENTATION

We started by planning the date, location, and synchronizing with all services to coordinate security measures. An important point was to convince our partners that it was inappropriate to hold the event during the weekend, as this could affect the quality of media engagement.

Having carried out preliminary organizational work at the location, worked with the speakers, and received all the necessary information for further materials, we proceeded to the actual implementation of the task.

We prepared a press announcement, a note on the equipment that was to be officially handed over to the defenders (15 British FV432 armored personnel carriers, 10 restored trucks and 2 armored tractors). We sent materials to the media and distributed information among contacts of media professionals. It was important to comply with security measures and to take an extremely careful approach to the process of accrediting journalists.

Next, we developed a plan for the press conference and coordinated it with the speakers. There were three of them:

  • Ihor Tantsiura, Commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General;
  • Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress;
  • Andriy Potichnyi, Director of the Ukrainian World Congress' Unite with Ukraine initiative.

We went to the location in advance and prepared everything for the media, figured out where the best place to set up the press area would be, where to test drive the equipment and record additional comments. On the day of the event, our team moderated the event, took care of the convenience for photo and video shooting, and took care of all the organizational issues. The press briefing was attended by representatives of more than 20 different media outlets, including foreign ones: Canadian, Polish, Czech, and others. For those who were unable to attend the event, we sent out a photo report with a video report prepared by us.
RESULT

More than 150 mentions of the event in foreign, national and regional media. Potential reach of 1.7 million people. In particular, the material was published on the websites of České noviny, Censor.NET, TSN, Focus, Espreso TV, Obozrevatel, Suspilne, Zahid.net and on dozens of social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram.
