Communication support of UNICEF’s ‘Leave No Child Alone’ chatbot

TASK

Communication support for the work of the chatbot ‘Leave No Child Alone’. Handling information from Partnership for Every Child specialists, recording interviews and creating materials for the media, generating and creating content (publications, photos, and videos) for social media, preparing reports and presentations as part of the project.

IMPLEMENTATION

In March 2022, the charitable organization Partnership for Every Child, together with UNICEF, the Ministry of Social Policy and the Office of the President of Ukraine, launched the chatbot ‘Leave No Child Alone’ to help children in difficult situations during wartime.

At the time of the chatbot's creation, the main goal was to provide temporary shelter for children who had been left without parental care due to various circumstances. The chatbot could be used by those who wanted to take in a child in their family, people who had lost a child, or those who saw a child alone.

After a year of operation, the chatbot has been updated with a new algorithm, and now its main focus is on long-term assistance to children, including the promotion and development of family-based care. Those families who have decided on the form of child foster care are immediately sent to Diia portal to submit an application. And those who have questions or doubts about which form to choose or want to temporarily shelter a child are invited to attend training. These are 4 classes on: forms of child care, preparing a family to take in a child, adaptation of a child in a new family, and the peculiarities of raising a foster child. In addition, families are added to regional groups where moderators provide advice and support.

Our agency analyzes information from Partnership for Every Child specialists and social workers, writes interviews, prepares posts and releases for the media, and creates graphics for social networks and reports. The agency's communicators helped to create a series of programs called "Visiting a Family" — video interviews with representatives of family-based care who share their experiences.

The agency covers the project's work, works with the media to popularize the work of guardians, foster parents, foster parents, and adoptive parents. Since the start of the project, almost 4,000 families have participated in the online training ‘Leave No Child Alone’, 2,743 of whom have already completed the full course.

RESULT

Since the launch of the chatbot, the media have published dozens of articles, interviews, and stories with experts from the Partnership for Every Child. The client's social media pages regularly provide information on project updates.
