BTU Soil Health: Media support for soil fertility restoration conference

Task:
  • Increase the number of conference registrations to over 500;
  • Increase the number of mentions of the event in national media;
  • Ensure coverage of the conference on BTU Soil Health's social media before, during, and after the event.
Implementation
The event organizer, the biotechnology company BTU, held the national conference for the fifth time. The event brought together representatives from science, education, business, government, and the public. The goal was not only to discuss soil conservation issues, but also to agree on practical steps for their restoration, particularly in the context of European integration.
The planned work by the UK comms agency included:
  • Preparing and publishing 4 articles on conference topics in national media free of charge;
  • Organizing 2 TV or radio broadcasts featuring conference speakers;
  • Creating posts and stories for BTU Soil Health's social media with event announcements;
  • Inviting media to the event and coordinating journalists on-site;
  • Recording and editing reels during the event;
  • Writing and distributing a post-event press release;
  • Preparing 10 posts based on speaker presentations after the conference;
  • Collecting media coverage for a final report.
The agency interviewed experts scheduled to speak at the conference, prepared opinion pieces, and published them in the media. This resulted in 4 organic publications in national online outlets: Ukrainska Pravda, Ekonomichna Pravda, European Pravda, and the industry-specific Latifundist media. The articles included active links to the conference registration form or livestream.

We also organized a TV appearance by Ihor Bezkaraivnyi, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, during the United News telethon, and a radio interview with Yuriy Dmytruk, a professor at Podillia State University, on Ukrainian Radio. Both speakers introduced the audience to key issues discussed at the conference.
To boost registration numbers, we compiled a list of potential partners, invited them to the event, and encouraged them to share the announcement. One agricultural company, thanks to our outreach, became an official conference partner. Additionally, we sent two email campaigns to potential participants to increase online attendance.
Before the conference, we sent out a press announcement, resulting in 9 media accreditations, including national outlets. During the event, we coordinated journalists on-site, recorded video content for social media, and gathered material for a final article on the conference. After the event, we prepared two versions of the post-event press release—a shorter one for media distribution and a longer one for BTU's website.

Result:

Over 45 publications in national, industry media, and social networks, including an announcement on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

29 posts, 3 reels, and 20 stories for the soil restoration platform's social media.

A total of 217 clicks on the registration page from our posts, media publications, and email campaigns.

The key result — 626 conference registrations, exceeding the client's KPI, with a significant portion driven by UK comms' communication support.
