TASK

To help the company expose attempts to block its business and prevent it from obtaining the necessary permits, and to resist blackmail and extortion.

Implementation

Firstly, as it is almost always the case in anti-crisis communications, we engaged a lawyer to help us with the task. He collected and studied all the necessary documentation, confirming that the client was right and that he was working within the legal framework. At the same time, we compiled a dossier and analyzed all the stories involving members of the blackmailing group, and found other people affected by their activities.

 

We also formed an evidence base that confirmed the fact of extortion (photo and video evidence).

Next, we prepared speakers who could clearly voice the chronology of events, provide facts and relevant arguments for the media. Our team compiled a list of media outlets and Telegram channels — those that investigate and cover business topics. We prepared a press release, pitched the media that were interested in the topic, and simultaneously actively covered the situation on the client's social media.

Eventually, the media prepared independent investigations. We recorded interviews with representatives of the client's company and other companies affected by the actions of this group. We provided the journalists with all the contacts of the people involved in the story, documents, collected photos and videos. The investigation was published in 2 national media outlets.

RESULT

They tried to negotiate with the company if only the client would stop publicizing the situation in the media. The client obtained the permits, which they tried to impede by blackmailing, and continues to operate in the market. The attacks and blackmail against the company stopped.
